No, it likely means one of the samples was LGSIL (low grade squamous intraepithelial lesion) and the other sample was HGSIL (high grade squamous intraepithelial lesion) all of which are fancy terms for dysplasia (sometimes called abnormal cells, or pre-cancerous cells) neither or which are cancer. Were you given a CIN (cervical intraepithelial neoplasia) level? CIN1 is considered to be a mild dyspasia (is usually grouped into LGSIL), CIN2 (moderate) and CIN3 (severe dysplasia) are grouped into HGSIL, all of these levels are abnormal cells that are contained within the lining of the cervix. Cervical cancer is when these cells have spread beyond the lining and invaded the nearby tissue - which usually takes a number of years, especially for squamous cell carcinoma. It is common practice to usually leave CIN1 and retest in 6 months, most women can rid themselves of mild dysplasia on their own within 6-12 months especially if they clear any active HPV infection. CIN2/3 and CIS (carcinoma in situ - which still is not cancer) are usually treated by LEEP or cone biopsy.
