I recently started seeing an amazing woman who just told me she has HPV. We have not dated long, but I am really wanting to take things slow and see where it goes. She had cervical cancer and has had normal paps
but dont think i can because it is only approved for men 9-26. I am 31. She is 23. Yes she is young, but our connection is amazing. I have a really strong immune system and from my research, it seems I might already have it and dont know it. Should I be worried? She said if she had the HPV that caused cervical cancer, it wont cause warts. Her last 2 boyfriends apparantly have no issues?? Thank you for your replies.
are normal she has cleared the HPV. And did she really have cervical cancer, it would be very unusual at her age. It would be more likely that she had a precancer which is not cancer and she may have had some precancerous cells removed. It might be important for her to check her records. You won't get HPV at least from her if her Paps
are normal and I presume she is being followed closely. She is correct genital HPV and cervical HPV are different and if she had high risk then you can't low risk and warts from her. It would appear that you are at no risk, or at the very least very little risk so there would be no reason to get the vaccine. And unless you knew what HPV genotype she had and there are over a hundred, you would not even know if the vaccine would be helpful for you, even if she was infected. It would appear not to be worth getting the vaccine even if you were able. And you are right, you might have it or have been exposed but without symptoms and if you have a good immune system it is not worth worrying about.
