genital warts and future sexual contact

Hi, about a year ago I noticed genital warts appearing which I later found out was due to contrating the hpv virus. I had them treated and as of yet they haven't returned. However, my doctor told me that there is no way of treating the hpv virus. Does this mean I can never have unprotected sex again and if I do will I pass on genital warts?
Thanks

No, that is not what this means. Some people believe that hpv stays in your system and lies dormant and could be passed on at a later point. This may not be true, even the center for diseases control says that your body "clears" the virus in 90% of cases after 2 years. Even if it is lying dormant that means that at that time you are no longer considered contagious, this is also only a theory and their is no proof this is the case.

What I am saying is you should be fine with time.
