high risk HPV test positive

Hi I'm 20 years old from the UK and we're not allowed pap smear tests until we're 25. I wanted one though but decided if I was going to be paying I may as well just get a HPV dna test rather than a pap smear. This tested for the high risk strains of HPV and it came back positive but I don't know for which strain or how many. Now I'm really scared. I am only 20 years old and i'm not even sure my doctors will take me seriously because we're not covered by the NHS under 25. Also I gave oral sex to the guy i caught this from and I'm extremely worried about some form of oral cancer now. At least with the cervical cancer there is screening and treatment but how am I supposed to find out if I'm infected in my mouth as well? Please help me.

Honey try to relax. I am no expert but i too am suffering from anxiety about this whole oral cancer scare. As I understand it, oral infections are rarer, and even if you do get infected, they do tend to clear up. There are always the unlucky few who go on to develop cancer, but as I understand it, there are only 1000 cases of HPV 16-related oral cancer in the UK every year. Put that against a population of 60 million and the odds seem to be in your favour. See what the doctors on this site say about oral sex and HPV, they are saying the same thing - it's a problem to be sure, but it's the oral cancer caused by oral sex is still rare. And that's not just me saying it, that's what Cancer Research says on its website. Try not to worry, you are only 20 and have your whole life in front of you

my boyfriend has just found out he has herpes and he told me women are the carries and he caught it from me ive never had it and had regualr check ups after my ex and he says it takes two months to show i have no sins of anything wrong... is it most definate that now he has it i have it too???please please please help and does it mean i can get cancer

your boyfriend maybe trying to pull a fast one on you. if you got tested and never had any symptoms there is a good chance it came from him , or even a boyfriend in your past.

Some people can have herpes and never know it.
