HPV does not affect a woman;s ability to become pregnant or maintain a pregnancy. High Risk HPV has the ability to cause dysplasia and in rare occurences, cancer. Multiple procedures to the cervix due to effects of HPV (dysplasia) may cause issues with future pregnancies but the virus itself has no bearing on the ability to become pregnant.
Low risk HPV causes genital warts and occasionally mild dysplasia (but will never alone cause moderate or severe dysplasia, nor cancer.) HPV is EXTREMELY contagious and most likely whatever strains
and without actual intercourse but simple skin to skin (genital) contact. It's very possible he may have already had a strain(s) of HPV prior to this as 80% of people will have at least one ACTIVE infection of HPV by the time they are 50. (Most will clear an active infection into dormancy without ever knowing they have it). Usually there are no symptoms to HPV so men are usually unaware they have it (especially high risk strains) so many people are transmitting the virus to others without any idea. There isn't an HPV test for men and the HPV test for women will only detect active infections (not dormant).
