hpv on pap....scared

Today I received a call from my gyn's nurse saying my pap came back abnormal with hpv. I have an open relationship with a male partner, we are normally monogamous, however two weeks ago, I had intercourse with someone else. I have not noticed any warts or anything like that. I am scared of cancer, warts, and ping ponging this back and forth with my long term partner. I go for a vinegar procedure and a colyptomy?? Sp?? on Dec . 7. I am terrified of all this as I have had no abnormalites before. Any guidance or comfort will be much appreciated. Thank you!!

Chances are there that the PAP report is abnormal due to genital warts but the strain of HPV causing genital warts is different from the one causing any cervical cancer. So you should get a colposcopic examination and a biopsy done to confirm the diagnosis.
