oral hpv/ oral ca/ transmission

my bro in law was recently diagnosed with ca of the pharynx at the level of the tongue with node involvement.  he has never been a tobacco user is any way, nor a heavy drinker.  he has recently had a hpv swab, still waiting for results. if these results come back +, he has been told oral sex may be how he was exposed.  Is this true?  I believe it would be true, if oral sex was performed on someone positive.  Can he now pass on HPV either orally or thru intercourse?

Hello,
It is true that research has proven that HPV can cause throat cancer and oral sex is a major risk factor for both men and women. In such a case, your brother in law should not indulge in oral or vaginal sex as he can transmit the virus to his partner.

It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.
