I have found different answers to this. First because you most likely both have the same strain of HPV you can not give it to each other again. There is no way to know which of you had it coming into the relationship and most likely if both of you have been sexually active with more than one partner in your life you both have been exposed to HPV and more than one strain. So, again you both could have more than just one strain of HPV and most likely you both have the same. You may never get any symptoms. Warts are caused by a low risk strain, cell changes are caused by high risk. Paps test for cell changes called dyplasia that are caused by high risk but also the doc would look for warts when doing your yearly exams. Always be good about getting your yearly paps. Now as far as sex, even though you both have the same it is a good idea to use condoms while he has warts. I am in the same situation, I have warts and my partner doesn't so we are being careful. We are not having oral sex while I have cell changes and warts. Docs have told me there is no need to stop oral but for me I tend to be a germ freak and feel like I can't take a risk. Oral risks are very low so don't let my worry freak you out about it. Also be careful about any skin to skin contact, such as near your anal area. Warts are very easily spread. Here is the good news. Once his warts are gone wait 3 to 6 months and you should be safe to assume his system has delt with the warts and you can resume normal life/sex. HPV is simply a skin condition and though there are rare cases where it causes more serious issues there are plenty of treatments.

What are the treatments like? Are they painful? What have you found to be the one that works best for you?

Well me being female and him male there may be different options. Also my skin is moist where his will be dry. My warts are in the vaginal opening where I can see, not past where I can't see (inside me). I have pics posted. I have had 2 acid treatment and have the third tomorrow then the forth a week from tomorrow. The doc said that will end this series and so I don't know what to expect. I keep finding a new wart each week and that makes me thing 4 acid treatments may not be it for me. That being said I don't have many warts and they are not very big. I opted to start treatment now, the doc said most people wait. I couldn't stand anything growing on me and I read it is better to treat them when they are small as the bigger they get the more treatment it takes. Some people never get treatment and warts go away on their own. That is just not something I wanted to wait and see about. The first treatment was really not bad at all, the acid stung for a bit and then the area turns white. You have to wash within a few hours and in a day or so the dead white skin comes off and you heal over a few days. The second treatment she covered a larger area, the burning was a bit harsher, still nothing I couldn't stand but the white dead skin seemed to be deeper and the area was much more sore the first few says with it taking about the whole week to heal. One little patch of two warts are gone after this, the larger patch is not, then I have two new warts. The warts spead to skin that is in a lot of contact.
