she has visual signs, what does that mean for me?

i heard that by the time someone in a sexual relationship finds out that they have HPV their partner has it.
My girlfriend just had an abnormal pap smear last week and today she started having genital warts.  Since the abnormal pap smear, we have not had sex.  If she has the strain that causes genital warts, does this mean i have the same strain too already?

More specifically, if its the strain that causes genital warts, will i get warts eventually also?
or since im a male, i most likely wont show any signs?
and if i show no signs, and she has the strain that causes warts? does that mean i should stop having sex with her? or is it already too late?

im confused on this, beacause i heard that males dont show signs for HPV but some get warts depending on the strain. im wondering if theres a certain strain that will cause warts to males AND females or if this is the one that will only cause warts for her?

HPV affects both men and women. Men can get the high risk strain but it doesn't present many problems. Instead, men act as carriers of this virus.

The strain that causes warts affects both men and women and may result in warts for both sexes. You have likely been exposed already. Although genital warts are very contagious, not everyone who has been exposed to the virus will develop symptoms. The best advise you can get would be from a doctor.

Tell the doctor your situation and ask for an examination. If you have warts, get them treated right away, if not, follow the doctors advice and suggested procautions.
