too much condylox or herpes

too much condylox or herpes

HI, about 1 1/2 weeks ago, I noticed some genital warts on my anus.  I went to my GP and she said that they where warts and gave me condylox gel but told me not to use too much.

I went home and started putting the gel on the warts.  It didnt' appear to be doing anything so I did apply more.  They were quite small. After two days, they were gone.  On the 2nd day, I noticed a red bump on my genitals that I also applied condylox to.   I had some pain during the first three days of application.   On the 4th day ( the dya of rest ), I started to get more and more pain accompanied by a bad smell from that area.

On the 5th day, I called the doctor becuase the area had become very red and smelled bad, and was leaking fluid.   She said that she couldn't tell what was going on.

She had me sit in a stitz bath 3 times a day and apply bactrim / desitin ( baby rash cream ) to the affected area.  I also took cipro ( on my own ) for fears of getting an infection.  She said taht the small pimple on scrotum looked herpetic but she wasn't sure.

I haven't had unprotected sex at all this year.  Only touching etc.

After two days of using the sitz / desitin / antibiotics, my anus region is settling down but the area where I applied the condylox appears to have blistered some but isn't painful.   The sore on the scrotum that I applied the gel to is also getting smaller.  The sore was red like a pimple with a white center which I punctured.

My question is it possible that this was all caused by condylox / bacterial infection?  Or could it have been herpes that I spread from the sore to teh anus?

I didn't experience lymph node swelling, fever or any other symptoms.

Honestly to me, this sounds like it might be a fungal infection (due to the bad smell).  But since I'm not a doctor and haven't seen the area first hand, this is entirely speculation and you should still follow up with your doctor.  Condylox is irritating, but since I haven't personally used it, I can't tell you exactly what it would and wouldn't do.  I would try posting this on the STD board or the Herpes forum, there are some very knowledgeable members there who can give you some good advice about HSV.  Herpes is not my forte, so sadly, I can't really offer too much valid advice about it.
