warts

Hi there
I met my partner in Nov 95, and discovered a wart in March 96. I have had several treatments, including aldara. they refuse to go away. my partner and i are no longer together, he only developed a few tiny ones on his shaft that responded to treatment very quickly. your posts say 2 years for imunity but i am still treating new ones??

Over 90% of people who contract genital warts clear the virus within 2 years. It does take longer for some, and it is entirely dependent on your immune system's response.

Still ,13 years seems like a long time. Perhaps your doctor can recommend a dermatologist or other specialist that will be able to help you. You may also want to get another diagnosis. Make sure that you are treating actual warts.

thank you for your reply, im afraid i got my years mixed up! 05 and 06 it should have read. So its 4 years in total, putting it down to being nervous broadcasting my afliction! I have looked up several home remedies and have tried cider apple vinager! ouch!! but it seems to be working, not sure if i can stick the pain and discomfort though.

I don't know a whole lot about genital warts or HPV, but have read that 90% of cases are cleared within 2 years (like alexdelong mentioned above). However, in some rare cases, some individuals can take longer to clear the virus, or can have it in their system indefinitely. These are known as high-risk cases. I'm not trying to frighten you, but in these high-risk cases, women have developed cervical cancer. Now I'm not sure if HPV actually causes this cancer, but I once read that 50% of women you have cervical cancer also had HPV. You should do some research and consult your doctor.
