why did my pap results change?

When I was pregnant with my just turned 4 year old son my Dr. did a pap. On one of my visits following the pap he came into the room and told me I had displaysia.I asked him what that meant and he said after you have the baby we will do another pap and take it from there.I received a letter from the lab giving me the results of my pap and it said Hpv something like serious or maybe severe? Well we did a pap when the baby was 3 months old and it came back fine. I'm sorry to say i have not had another pap since. No insurance and all that. I did have an appt. a year ago after I saved up some $ to get one and had to take the baby with me because I have no sitter and they refused to do my pap or exam because he was with me. My question is what are my chances of this becoming cancer and how soon and why did the papsmear change? Why did it have different results when I was pregnant and when I was not? Was it incorrect?

you not only NEED to get another PAP/HPV test..but maybe a new doc too if they won't perform an exam w/ a kid in the room..I had my annual exam in Sept w/ my 2 and 4 1/2yr old in the room and my doc/and me had them stay at my shoulders and even gave them a "job" of holding my hands..gyn espec should understand that sometimes you just can't leave them w/ someone else..espec. if it's about your health..

you need to get a pap smear done once a year... and with severe dysplasia you need to be getting paps every3- 6 months..... HPV can lay dormant in your system for a long time b4 showing its face on any pap smear.....  you body could have "cleared" the infection and when you get a pap it could be normal again, but you NEED to go get another pap smear. its been 3 years and there is no tellign what those cells have turned into

Most HPV infections are temporary. We would expect most paps to return to normal within 6-24 month. It is still a good idea to get regular paps.
