There are several different solutions for the fibriods, like the example above, plus the mirena IUD can also help with the heavy periods. Talk with your doctor, do a little research on the net, you should find lots of info.
I had many fibriods, my largest was 11cm, I had to have a Hysterectomy as I had a high CA-125 count, ( 240 & 383) which indicated to my doctor that the fibriod was still growing. Also my periods were extremly painful to the point of taking heavey duty medication and being off work for 2 days every month. I was ver anemica too, I was 95 and the norm is around 120. On my doctors advice I was taking 900mg of iron a day.
Ask your doctor to check your iron and he should have you on a supplement if your anemica.
Your GP could be recomending the hysterectomy for several reasons, your uterus could be tilted back and the surface not smooth, this makes it harder to have a sucess with certain procedures.
Do your reserch and then go in with a lot of questions, asking why they recomend the hysterectomy.
LOOK UP UTERINE FIBROID EMBOLIZATION PROCEDURE. YOU IS A GREAT ALTERNATIVE TO SURGERY.
