Hormones after total hysterectomy

Hello,
I was wondering if any of you all have been put on hormones after a total hysterectomy.  My doctor says there are too many risks and I don't need them...I am 38. I don't know what to expect here 2 weeks after surgery, I keep waiting for a hotflash or something weird to happen. :) What can happen if I don't take them? I've had nightmares of growing hair on my face or my voice getting manly. Are my fears real?  Can anyone share their experience or knowledge about hormones?

Thanks,
Sippy

I am 57 I had a total hysterectomy due to cystosil, 5 months ago,  GYN advised at my request natural Estroven + Multivitamins.  I feel great except for some white spots on my arms since 3 months ago.  Is very unconfortable to see my arms full of white freckels like.  My Dematologyst has given me some topic cream  LAMIFEN for fungus but. depigmentation is still there.  Does anybody knows of any remedy for my problem? Also, is there any maintanence program for after hysterectomy at my age?.

I had a total hysterectomy 5 weeks ago, my doctor is saying he does not think I will need to go on any hormone meds, yet the visiting nurse made a comment and said "how does he expect me to get them?"
I am very up and down emotionaly, I am also warm one sec cold the next (in the past I was NEVER cold).
What should I do?  I am 35 and live with my parents and cannot stand hearing call the doctor and get on some meds!!!

I am 51 and had a complete hysterectomy 2 years ago.  I have since found out that I have a heritary blood clotting disorder.  I decided to go off the pill form do HRT containing both estrogen and progesterone in favor of BHRT.  I am not sure this was the right direction to go.  I don't want to increase my clotting risk but, I don't want the symptoms of menopause.  I have been told to take an antidepressant and see how I get along.  I have just been on the BHRT for a week, but am uneasy.  Any thoughts

I am 33 and had a full hysterectomy last October.  I have tried multiple hormone therapies and nothing has worked for me.  I have anxiety and panic attacks and the hormones make them worse.  I have opted to stay off hormones and deal with the night sweats and hot flashes naturally.  I am taking calcium and vitamin D supplements.  My doctor told me at first that I had to take hormones, but after trying multiple ones she finally agrees that my body can not tolerate them.

I had a total hysterectomy 12 years ago due to abnormal cells in cyst...I took synthetic hrt for a couple of months which made me bad tempered and totally awful! I then converted to elleste solo patch (natural plant extract) these were brilliant but a pain to keep stuck on, and after a day or so they looked grubby so I gave up. I have been off hrt for around 6 years now and haven't suffered any ill effects. Only now have I started waking up soaking after night sweats....I don't know whether I'm going through a 'normal' menopause which I still consider myaelf too young to go through. My bone density has improved since after the operation!!! Which is strange. Hope this helps someone x

Hi
I was interested in your post because it sounds like me. I'm 40 years old and 3 mos ago I had a complete hysterectomy - ovaries taken too. I was put on the patch immediately and within 3 weeks had an allergic skin reaction. Then they put me on Elastrin - a gel you put on your forearm every morning. I have been very edgy and short. I have always been a very happy, patient person, unitl the last few months and I have 2 kids. The Dr. says I need to stay on Estrogen for 10 years, everyone else I talk too, says it causes cancer. If I never had mood problems before...why do I need them?? I have the hotflashes, usually 1 per night, I can handle'm though. I stopped using the gel this past Sunday, to see how it goes...So confused
