How long to recover?

Hello. Hope someone can help.
I had a D & C and he said he did extensive scrapping while in there because the lining was so thick. He took out 2 embedded polyps and a fibroid. The polpys, fibroid and endometrial lining was sent for a biopsy. No cancer. The surgery was April 24,2009. No problem the first week. No pain, no bleeding. Then after 5 days every time I stood,  picked something up or coughed I could feel the gush of fluid (blood sorry bout the description) .Not continual though. I had sex with my husband Sunday night, today is Tuesday and I am bleeding very heavy none stop. Is this something that you think could be normal? Could we have opened a healing wound in there or something?  I was told to rest for only a few days. I am a breast cancer survivor of almost 3 years. I guess the reason for his concern upon looking at my ultrasound. Overies were clear and normal size.

It sounds like your a pretty smart lady, Good idea on waiting a bit extra for sex, especially by his own admission the doc scraped you very thin,it really sounds like what you passed was a large clot, and not too gross, Youd be amazed at what I have heard !!! LOL, Seriously though, passing clots after a d and c is to be expected.

good decision to avoid the hyster if at all possible, and the jurys still out on bio identicals and if they have any affects on the predisposition toi cancer or not. Certainly best to be cautious.

Thank you for your responses. I did go to my doctor. I don't mean this to be so gross but I woke the next morning after soaking 4 pads overnight and when I went to the bathroom there was this like huge blob that came out. Sorta like afterbirth.I tried to see it but the water wasnt clear enough.He did not do another ultrasound. Doc said it could have been a clot that I passed. He said he had to scrape the endo lining so extreme to get a good biopsy sample and that it was left quite thin and may never get thick enough to stop the bleeding vessels in there. So of course he wanted to do a hysterectomy which I am against at my age and due to the fact I had breast cancer so no hormone replacement therapy for me. Anyways the bleeding has actually stopped for now. Even though I waited my 7 or 8 days to have sex I told my hubby to just let me recoup another month and then see what happens. I'll keep you posted and thank you all again for your information.

If your bleeding that heavy after a recent D and C you need to get to the doctors STAT or go to er,,,its not normal, and I really dont wish to panic you but please get some medical attention right away...best wishes,,.cherie
