Hysterectomy /ovaries /Colposcopy results

Hope someone can help me with this question please. I have been advised by my consultant to have a hystorectomy because I have had abnormal CIN 1  CIN2 and CIN 3 results on my smear tests, I also had a cone biopsy a few months ago which showed a mild abnormality (H PV ) (I think)  So he would like to remove everything , also he says I have a slight womb prolapse.
My main question is do I need my ovaries removing as I would like to keep them even though I am 60 and still have flushes etc. I have read the pros and cons and I want to know if having the CN results will have any bearings on being more susceptible to ovarian cancer.
Thank You in advance

Hysterectomies as well as ovary removals (castration) are two of the most overused surgeries with only about 10% being necessary.

It sounds like you are not sure about the results of the cone biopsy. Are you saying you still have CIN3? Or did it resolve that? Do you have clear margins?

The uterus and its ligaments are vital to pelvic integrity both for skeletal / structural support as well as for proper pelvic organ placement and function. It can destroy your sex life. There is also risk of ovarian failure. So you don't want to lose your uterus unnecessarily.

The ovaries produce hormones our whole lives for optimal health. You want to keep them if at all possible.

With the gross overuse of these surgeries, you need to question any recommendations to remove them.

If cancer is truly a concern, you should be seeing a gynecologic oncologist if you aren't already. But be aware that many of them also remove organs unnecessarily.

The non-profit HERS Foundation may be able to give you some guidance on interpreting your medical records and finding an ethical doctor to determine how to proceed.

I had a hysterectomy and it has caused many more problems than it solved and they just keep piling up. I am almost 10 years post-op.

Best of luck to you!

The biopsy apparently showed
slight abnormalities, the consultant wants me to have a hystorectomy because at the moment I have to keep having follow up biopsy after my colposcopy smears plus a slight womb prolapse, ( and the biopsys are almost unbearable)
Thanks for taking the time to answer my questions.
