Leakage

Hi All,

My question is this... How long does it take for the urine to stop slightly flowing out on it's own? Tomorrow is the 3 week mark since my TAH and I keep having slight bladder leakage. Please tell me this is normal I am starting to get worried. I hate calling the nurse and waiting for her to call back so I thought that it would be better to ask here since so many have already had this surgery done.

Thank you !! all is well w me I have been off line a few days decorating my new place fun!!

I think the emotional part of a hysterectomy is equally hard to deal with as the physical part...not the same with most surgeries..this ones hard in many ways.

Good Luck  Sweetpea...it makes sense that the endo on bladder could have something to do with it...I know the 6 week appt can be a disapointment,,but :This too shall pass,

Big Hugs

I will start working on that as my doctor said to be patient and we will address this issue if it is still happening at my follow up appt."June 14th" says it could be due to how the endo was all over the tube to my bladder. It has gotten a little better past few days. Thank God and I am hoping that it will continue improving. I always had slight leakage when I had a bad cough or if I laughed to hard but this was different. Thanks Ladies. Cherie I will work on the K exercise that sounds like a win win :)
Have  GREAT DAY...

Try Kegals,,if your not familiar..its exersise to strengten vaginal/bladder muscles,,,while sitting anywhere no one will notice simply squeeze your legs at top most point where thigh is connected to pelvis...what you need to do is squeeze as if you are stopping urine mid stream....hold the squeeze for several seconds....., repeat as often as you can try for 5 min 3 or 4 times aday to begin,,,then build up more repititions more frequently...a good perk to this ,,not only "should" it help strengthen the muscles causing the leakage..it makes sex more pleasurable.

Now as for leaking a few drops after a sneeze, a good laugh,,if you have given birth its normal...a few drops is normal ,,,for it to be noticable to others would be another issue,,,,,

so please give it a try, if my explanation was not clear you can find video examples on line just do a search on :Kegals Exercise"

I'm glad to hear your calling your Dr. I would think it would be possible to have a tiny bit of leakage right after the catheter is removed, but not this long. How are you feeling, any pain or other problems? Please do let us know what you find out. Remar

I did not have any bladder leakage after my surgery. You need to contact your Dr tomorrow and get in to see him/her because this should'nt be happening. Did you have this problem before the surgery?
Hopefully you can talk with Cherie, our CL here and she can give you advice about what's going on. But do call your Dr and get in the office tomorrow to find out what's going on.Let us know what they say. Take care. Remar
