NO I am not CRAZY ;)

My question is this. I am having a complete hysterectomy next Wednesday May 12th. I am by no means shallow but I am VERY concerned on how much weight I will be gaining due to hormones etc. Any one have any suggestions on how to prevent this or what medicines to avoid??? Any advice will be greatly Appreciated.

It may not be as bad as you think. I would use some kind of hormone therapy and the good news is you can use and estrogen only product. I would really start there becasue of hot flashes and night sweats. If you aren't sleeping you may have a harder time with weight. Bottom line, don't be afraid of estrogen. I would however stay away or be hesitant with over the counter hormones like Black Cohosh or Estroven etc. There are great options out there now like patches and a spray that you can control the dose - use more or less if you need. If you exercise already, stay with it and you should be fine. Depending on how they are doing the hysterectomy, you will probably feel bloated etc initially. Just give it some time.  Best of luck
