Hi.  I am having laparoscopic hysterectomy with ovary removel (removal).(Brca  gene) I have a one year old baby. I was told I can't pick up anything over 10pounds. No yoga or anything  either .  For 4 weeeks. Wow is this really true?? Is there a procedure with better post op recovery?

Yes, this is true.  It takes that long for the internal parts to heal correctly.  You could risk a hernia, or even ripped stitches if you try to do too much too quickly.  Laparoscopic is also the procedure with the fastest recovery time.  It's that vs. an open procedure.

I understand that you want the hysterectomy due to BRCA issues.  But it's still an elective procedure.   Perhaps you could postpone the surgery for a year or two, until the baby is less likely to have to be picked up constantly.  With regular monitoring, you should be okay.  Caught early, ovca is curable.  Just a thought.
