Possible Hysterectomy at 33

I have had a supercervical hyst which was done a year ago. They took my uterus out and left everything else due to so much damage from endo, painful cycles, and bleeding. Up until about three months ago I started having horrible pain, they found fluid in my tube on my left side and a large cyst. I'm going in for surgery in two weeks, they are planning on taking my left ovary. I've had numerous surgeries to help myself get pregnant along with C-sections. I'm starting to think that from all the years of agony it might be best to get a full hysterectomy which might happen anyway depending on what they find when they go in. Just not sure what to think about any of it? My last surgery the doctor knicked a large vein and didnt seal it properly, long story short I had two surgeries and lost all my blood volume, now I cringe at the thought of going back in..I have to do something though I have a 6 yr old and a 2 yr old I can barely pick up my 2 yr old from pain...uggh any thoughts would be appreciated..Thanks!

Hi, when they took your uterus , that was a hysterectomy, they are thinking of taking tubes abd ovaries this is called BSO short for bilateral salpingo Ooperectomy.

If they are thinking of taking just one ovary give this alot of thought sounds like you have a tought time with surgeries and every time they go in chances of scar tissue /addhesions increase.

I would insist they take tube that contained fluid,,,the tube does no good at all without ovary.

You need to come up with a post surgical plan for at home . Your going to need help with those children...try to get some friends to help you get house in order , stick up on frozen meals, buy some new coloring books, rent dvds things that will keep kids busy especailly your first few days home. the 6 yr old could help and liekly enjoy doing it, let her/him. do light house work like dust, pcik up toys , fold towels etc....this will make them feel important and helpful.

I think first few days home you should have an adult with you.....do not use heat for pain an ice pac helps , 15 min on 15 off with a barrier such as a wash cloth.

they likely will send you home with narcotic pain medications...problem is these always cause constipation, something us women do not want t0 deal w after a female surgery...Ask Dr to advuce ob stool softner ..very important .NOT A LAXATIVE tooo harsh.

increas your fiber alot and lots of extra water ,

the best way for you to heal is to rest, alot do not bend, lift, or do any housework,,,your 2 yr old can lay next to you and you can read , play toys etc,,,but you will not beable to do direct care such as diaper change or potty duty, no lifting, no bathing them//

It may be late but ask your Dr if they would consider the DaVinci Robotic assisted method,,,,tge very best...far less risk of blood loss, 4 very sm as in 1/4 to 1/2 inch scars...quicker healing. less invasive

good luck ,,pm me if you like w questions and please get back w me post op when your up to it and let me know how you are.

Hugs

Cherie
