Post Total Hysterectomy Hot Flashes

I had my hysterectomy more than 3 years ago.  I have been on a minimal 1/2 pill dose of Premarin and it worked wonderfully.  My doctor had be go off of the premarin 4 months ago.  (Note: I took the 1/2 pill with great caution as my mom took premarin for many years and ended up with breast cancer which eventually took her life 5 years ago).  I have been tortured since stopping my premarin regime.  I don't think I have had a full nights sleep since - in fact last evening the first wake up was at 3:38 and then I had 5 more flashes before I finally got out of bed and started my day with more flashes.  My gen practioner has suggested prozac ... sorry but that seems a bit severe.  Any suggestions?  I truly need to get some sleep!

Yes, I was going to recommend Estrace too. In my opinion, I am so glad to hear your Dr took you off the Premarin.

Zoloft is supposed to ease hot flashes, or you could go onto estrace.
