by grandma0713, Sep 24, 2008 09:45AM
I am female 59 years of age and had a total hysterectomy more than 25 years ago.  Do I need to continue taking Premarin .0625 or can I discontinue since I am past meopause age.

I am in the same boat, turning 59 this January.  My total hysterectomy was in the mid 1980s. I have cut down to four tablets about five years ago and for the past two years take three (M, W, F).  Still unsure of way to go, but interested in knowing more.

I had a complete hysto. in 84 and was on vivelle patch for most of those years.  Just estrogen and no progesterone.  I was fine until a few years ago and it just got worse.  I became so estrogen dominant and became a total mess.  I went to a very good hormone imbalance seminar a few days ago and it was great.  I think if you went off,  you'll regret it in time.  There are so many symptoms with low or no hormone production.   I'm in the process of getting my hormones balanced but I'm feeling much better now and  hopefully it will get even better.  It's been 35 days since I went on my bioidentical cream that my Dr. prescribed and my compound pharmacy makes up.  It has saved my life.
