Rapid prolapse

Rapid prolapse

My question about the time frame of a pelvic prolapse. I first became aware of the incontince shortly after my youngest was born 2 years ago. I finally did something about in in late September 2007. I had the Monarc procedure done. after surgery my doc told me once I was under the bladder had fallen more than he had thought. So this was a temperary fix, if any. I noticed at Thanks Giving, the bulge. I went to a new doctor  in January and was told  I had a grade 2 bladder prolapse and that the uterus was also beginning to fall. We did some testing but because of the Monarc, the tests were inaccurate. It seems the bladder has fallen behind the Monarc. Then in March I was refered to a urologist and he let me know that I not only had the bladder but also the rectal prolapse. And I was " a mess". Which I was very aware of. Early April It has gotten even worse still, I am constanly aware of it, lower and mid back pain, sometimes it is hard to find a position to sit that doesn't hurt, I can't sleep lay in my stomach. I can fell the tissue at the opening. 2 weeks ago my husband said he was aware of it. It felt like a water balloon on one side, and then this week he said it was different again and he can tell that everything is out of place and the cervix is way low.

I go in for surgery on the 23rd,and I know I am get the A&P and bladder sling but I find out Friday if we are going to do a hyst.
My question is. Is it common for the progression of the prolapse to happen so fast. It went from not much at all to pretty sever in less than 6 months. Is there anything else I should be concerned about and what types of questions should I ask my doc on Friday. Thank you

I think it can happen over a perios (periods) of years and then real fast. In my case it was over many many ears and then wham lift something too heavy and it came all the way out.  So it can happen in a variety of ways.  A difficult birth can be the start and then over time little by little or all at once it can get much worse. I had horrible back pain from 2001 when I first noticed prolapse of uterus. I had hysterectomy and repair to bladder and posterior on Feb 5th and guess what....no back pain now. SO I am thrilled!
