Sexually Frustrated

I had a vaginal hysterectomy 3 weeks today.  Still have my ovaries.  Have done very well with no complications.  I am back to work, but am a REALTOR.  The problem:  my husband and I are very sexually frustrated and was wondering how much harm it would be to have sex??  If he was to go real slow and if there were any signs of it hurting, we would stop.  Was suppose to have my 2 week check-up last week, but got rescheduled until next week, which is almost 4 weeks after surgery.

PLEASE HELP!!!!

NO!! NO!! NO!! You can't have sex before the 6 weeks post-op!!! You can ask any woman this same question that's had a hysterectomy and they will tell you the same thing!

The day I was discharged from the hospital my doctor gave me specific orders. He said NOTHING goes up into the vagina!! No tampons, douches, NOTHING! This needs 6 - 8 weeks to heal. If you go ahead with sex you can cause major damage! Those stitches aren't healed yet and it takes that long, maybe longer for your insides to heal too.

I would just be patient :-)

I was told absolutely no intercourse for 6 weeks. However he said we could do everything but penetration, so you can still get relief, but masterbation (masturbation) or oral. For the record, 5 weeks was all I waited.

12 weeks no sexual intercourse on my discharge notes................it will significantly increase intra=abdominal pressure, disrupt sutures.

I have to agree! Who can think of sex after all of this and the pain?!

I too wouldn't risk tearing open the sutures! That's what keeps the insides inside! I think it does anyway.

Absolutely...they say it takes up to 2 years to be completelye healed, so I would not risk going thru this again.......for a repair..........I would wait 12 weeks, or until doctor says its ok..not take advice someone who did it premature and may have really caused injury that she is not aware of YET.  Everyone must use common sense and listen to their physician.  If your horny go watch a religious network!
