Stitches

Did anybody have stitches that were left to come out on there own???  I had my 2 week check up last Thursday May 1st and my surgeon told me he wanted me to start scrubbing my incision areas.  I have the 6 little ones, because I had the daVinci robotic laparoscopic hyster.  I was grossed out at the thought of scrubbing them, but I started yesterday and just sing a song in my head to keep my mind off what I'm doing. LOL  Do the stitches REALLY come out completely by themselves??????????????  What if any are stubborn and don't untie????  I see my surgeon at my 4 weeks on May 15th if I don't encounter any more post op problems with fevers and infection from the abscess that was found through the CT I had on April 29th.

Hope you all are doing well.  Blessings and THANK YOU IN ADVANCE for any inputs.  Sharon :)

My stitches were dissolvable and were totally gone at 4 weeks. I had a 6 inch vertical abdominal incision .I know how you must feel about having to scrub them, i so would not have wanted to do that! For the first few weeks i didnt even want to LOOK at them! They will probably itch for a while too. Sorry you have been going through all those troubles and i hope you are feeling better now.  Sabrina

I only got staples, not stiches.  And the staples weren't removed until almost 3 weeks post op because I'm very heavy, and we didn't want any bleeding.

I WISH they would have used stitches!
Let us know how it goes for you?

My inside ones are the dissolving kind, but the outside incisions I guess just untie and come out on their own, but I have a problem believing they would.  I have other messages to read to find out from others what they've said.  Hoping to get some answers as this whole thing GROSSES ME OUT........  LOL

Blessings, Sharon :)

Hey belle10, :)

The outside can be dissolvable too?????  I just CAN'T WAIT for this all to be behind me I don't have a stomach for this!!!!!  LOL  You weren't told to SCRUB yours?????  I JUST DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY THERE ISN'T A WRITTEN RULE ALL OVER THE WORLD for the procedures so WE ALL are told the SAME THINGS FOR THE SAME SURGERIES........  It's SO AGGREVATING TO HEAR ALL THE DIFFERENT STORIES AND WONDER, "WHICH ONE IS RIGHT.......????"

Thank You for writing and inviting me to be your friend.  You have a great day.  Sharon :)

Hey Morrowville, :)

Thank you for writing.  As far as what I've heard as GROSS to me as "staples" would be I've heard GREAT THINGS as far as NICE SCARES and NOT THE UGLY ONES the stitches can leave.  My surgeon DID SAY in time the skin would flatten.  Once my stitches come out I'm to use Neosporin and band aids on them.  Wondering what others have been told and experienced.

Blessings, Sharon :)
