Symptoms

I had a hysterectomy a little under 2 months ago. Everything went well. My only concern is last month and this month I get symptoms of a period at the time my cycle use to come. Has anyone ever experienced this?

It is odd that your body is "cycling" without ovaries but it is still early post-op and you may have a bit of estrogen reserves left that may explain it. Most women I know who have complained of this and do not have ovaries have endometriosis. I do know that with a cervix, you can have mini periods or spotting due to uterine tissue on the cervix but I would not expect that to cause the "cycling" symptoms.

I didn't have endo just a huge mass of a fibroid with many smaller ones inside of the mass. Everything benign, thank heaven. I had a full abdominal hysterectomy. It is all gone except for a small piece of my cervix. That's why I don't understand why I feel anything like period symptoms. I take Premarin. Would that have an effect?

By "symptoms of a period" I assume you mean the hormonal changes but without the bleeding. This is normal if you still have your ovaries and they are still functioning (about 40% of the time they shut down after hysterectomy). Women who have endometriosis and have their ovaries removed at the time of hysterectomy sometimes report the symptoms you are experiencing. The likely reason in this scenario is that any remaining endo implants produce estrogen which is why they say that hysterectomy is not a cure for endo.
