Urgent Endometriosis help needed!!

I suffer from Endometriosis, and have recently had a laparoscopy bout 2 months ago and had a lot of growths removed but they couldnt remove some larger ones from my bowels as it was too specialised.  Since my op my pain and symptoms have gotten worse, but at my post op appt the surgeon suggested the pill.  Since i have started this it has not helped, and i notice symptoms like having terrible fevers and crippling aches in my back and legs.  some days i cannot even walk.  The annoying thing is I cannot afford to see a private specialist, and I have to wait til feb for my next gynie appt at the hosp.
I really cant put up with the pain anymore, and the stress it is causing to my work and life.... HELP????
someone suggested a hysterectomy......

Hi emmy

I had the same problems as you.. suffered for 10 years like that.until my doctor put me on a drug called Zoledex it its a capusule injected into you stomach once a month, it hurts like hell for a few mins but the effects are fantastic... I know this will sound strange but they use the drug to slow down tumour growth in men with prostate problems, BUT they also use it to slow down growth in endometriosis and fibroids...the pain dissapears you dont have periods, they will put you on a course of hrt but to be relieved of the pain is just the best... i felt godd... not all gps will prescribe this as it is £100 a shot, but it is worth having i managed to get mine on the nhs for a year until i had my hysterectomy...
Hopr you get some joy and this helps in anyway.. Good luck.

Hi There,
Sorry you feel so lousy. I had severe endo with adhesions removed during my robotic laparoscopic total hysterectomy. I had that done Oct 15th. I don't know how old you are so it is difficult to suggest something like this. I am 45, never was able to have children, so it was the right thing for me to do. My doc said the only sure fire way to get rid of endometriosis is removal of the ovaries. That is the source of estrogen which feeds the endo. But let me tell you, surgical menopause is no picnic. Once they get you on the right hormone replacement, things are much better but it takes a bit. Some docs including my own don't like to put a person on hormones for six months after the endo is removed because it can grow back. I had such terrible menopause symptoms that I didn't care if I had the endo growing back out of my eyeballs, I needed the hormones...LOL
Have you tried Lupron? That is a medication that will put you into a medication induced type of menopause so the endo can go away.
If you are done having children, then the total hysto might be the way to go.
I hope you feel better. I can feel your pain jumping right off the page.
Keep us posted
