What to do???????

HI there
I had an LAVH in Oct 2008.since then still have severe pain with cycles but no bleeding.was on progestrin to shrink endo but to no avail.I then had another surgery where extensive endo was removed and adheasions in June of 2010.Only to find that I was a month free with no pain and now its back again.I did leave my left ovary and tube cause the drs didn't want me to go into early menopause.I am having severe pains again also in my lower back and legs.I also have that heavy feeling and intercourse is extremely painful. My poor husband he has really been so patient with me and understanding.we have 2 wonderful boys so no more kids for us.I am having an ultra sound done on Monday as my new OBGYN thinks an endometrioma. Can it be only 2 months after the extensive surgery. If so she wants to remove the ovary altogether and put me on hormones. If there is nothing on the ultra sound then I will go on Lupron (which I have been on before and had terrible side effects) for 6 months and if the pain goes away then she will take the ovary and tube and clean me out once and for all. Please advise on what I should do.I have been told to keep my ovary cause I am only 34 was 32 at the time of LAVH but then I have been told that because of the severity of my disease since I was 16 I should have had everything out and other drs don't know why other drs wanted to punish me by leaving it in.I am very confused and am still hoping for pain free days and energy to play with my boys and be a good mom.any input from anyone would be wonderful.I will listen to both sides. I want to add that the reason they took the right ovary and tube was it was a cystic ovary and I had to have several surgeries to remove cysts from it.

Ask Drs to do a CA125 test its for ovarian cancer...simple blood test.

rest is ease a bit soonds to me like a endo covered cyst many many women get these post hysterectomy...we try to save our ovaries but seems many need to have them removed with in 1-5 years post hyster

Glad your not trying the Lupron  high percent has negative reaction for those who do not however it works/

btw...yw

I care about all of you ladies and do my best to help.

write me back when you know whats happening ...you know you will need to line someone up for help with the children...your not going to be able to lift for awhile

OK so I have the results back.there is a complex ovarian mass on my left ovary. It measures 2.0x1.9x1.8 cm.They say it could be an endometrioma and could be malignant too and that I have to have it followed asap.I have not heard from my dr yet?waiting to see what she says.I am definitely not doing Lupron.I cannot put my children through that nor my husband, nor my body.I know it is really small but I am more worried about the fact of it being cancerous.I have 2 small boys and cannot bear the thought of leaving them or my husband. My youngest also has a heart condition and other illnesses and requires a lot of attention so I have to keep myself as healthy as possible.I will let you know as soon as I hear from the dr.Thanks for replying to me.

You may habe developed more addhesions or scar tissue, the problem is every time they go in to fix endometrosis or addhesions, of course it is surgery, they try to remove all seen scar tissue etc...yet when healing from lateast surgery of course more scar tissue is developed...I had a gyn explain it to me that the best they really hope for is to have 75% of the scar tissue gone as it never will be completley gone with present technology.

Leuprons side effects can be serious, weeping, depression, many women cannot handle that.

Preserving one ovary would be ideal....before even considering removing it I would have to have Drs tell me there was a rather serious issue, like it is covered in endo tissue attached to bowels (happened to me painful) or lg cyst etc...

Bio-identical hormones are something we can discuss later if you do end up having the ovary removed....do not use anything but.

hugs

Cherie
