changing my meds

I had a laporoscopic hysterectomy 3 years ago and have been on .06 climara patch since; After having numerous side effects I looked up info online and I am terrified! I would like to switch to bio ientical hormones; is this advisable? How do i go about this? I also take 60 mg of cymbalta daily, and would like to stop this also; thank you!

Mary I recently saw a pt. that has been on the Climara patch for 10 years after she had a hysterectomy.  She is now 52 and would like to come off the patch, but every time she surpasses one day from applying a new patch, she becomes fatigue and drained with no strength at all to even get up from bed.  Are there any oral medications she can switch to and then from there try to decrease the amount taken gradually so that she wont have withdrawl effects?

The Climara patch is a Bioidentical product. What you are missing (in my opinion) is Bioidentical Progesterone. It made all the difference when I added that to the Vivelle Patch and the Testosterone cream I was already using. The Vivelle is also a bio and it is estrogen synthesized from yams whereas the Cliamara patch contains estrogen synthesized from soy. But, synthesized and synthetic are not to be confused. The body recognizes the bio molecule for molecule whereas when a synthetic product is use (such as Premarin) all molecules match but for one. But, that ONE molecule makes all the difference in how the body responds to it.

Do you still have your ovaries? Just wondering.

Try to read the other posts here on the bioidentical products in case you have not done so already.

Also, consider going "blue" with your name...even if it means making a profile saying only that you are "female"...it helps so that others can send messages and such. Take a look at my profile if you want...I recommend a few books that were very helpful to me. And, also, if you wish, take a look at my posts...but I will warn you, I have over 550!  But, there are many posts in there about the hormonal situation.

Take care,

Mary
