Sugar is an addictive substance. You will need to get it out of you system in order to gain will power. I know you do not want to hear this because you are addicted to the sugar and no addict wants to hear they need to give up the substance they are addicted to. Try going on the South Beach diet. Get the book and see if you can follow it. If you cannot actually diet at least go cold turkey on NO sugar. If you can win that battle the rest will be easier. Also there is a web site for southbeach.com....perhaps chatting with someone in your same situation will be helpful. Good Luck....Ive been addicted to the sugar and the South Beach diet has helped me tremendously.

Tobesmartt. I'm sorry to hear your going through this. It is true that some women gain weight after surgery and some do not. I did'nt gain a single pound after my surgery.
I would recommend starting with light exercise like walking. Stock up on gum and sugarless hard candy. Those help me with my sugar cravings.
We're always here to talk. Take care. Remar.

May I ask what size clothing you were prior to your surgery? I mean this not to be rude at all, truly so please forgive me but a 3x..is a dnagerous size. Your heart and all vital organs are woking extra hard.

You need support. Many women find the easiest least painful and actually fun exercise is water areobics, do ask your dr pleas before starting any exercise plan.

Im not going to even answer if this is due to the hysterectomy or not, could be or not just as remar said. I gained 10 lbs and have maintained that I also have hypothyroidism which makes most gain weight,. I eat losts of fruit and veggies and drink tons of water.

If you really want to loose this weight please join our weight loss forum . We also have a healthy cooking forum.

You and only you can change this. It will require some strenght and willpower but you can do it..No eating infront of tv..Never skip a healthy breakfast,,,Oatmeal, peanut butter toast,,,not bacon donuts fried, eggs etc...

I often find when Im craving a sweet that a good juicy orange is wonderful.
these things will take wil power and you have to stick with it...its a proven psychological fact that if you do something every single day for 30 days that it becomes a habit..good or bad...you can do this...the other forums I mention will help...I cant confirm or deny that its due to your hysterectomy...but thats not what you need blame will not change this,,,new healthy habits will

Hi, I, too had a complete hysterectomy and I have gained 30 pounds. I have joined Curves and am enjoying it. Before the surgery I was an athletic and toned gal. I understand the no energy. Comes with the lack of hormones from surgery. I have read some really great books on "Surgical Menopause", one being "The Wisdom of Menopause"  by Dr. Christiane Northrup and "Ageless" by Suzanne Somers. These books helped me understand what is going on with my body and the lack of hormone levels. I do have a thryoid disease as well, so I have a double whammy...I am determined to get this weight off. I decided to take natural hormones to replace the ones that were lost in surgery. My motto is eating nutritious and healthy. When I am finding things to eat, I think to myself, "What will this do to my body?" Will I become tired and irritable and crash, or will I feel better and have more energy? Longevity is very important to me, and if I continue to eat healthy and put nutritious food in my body, I will be well. I also drink lots of water, no fruit juice or sodas. I also take vitamins every day too.
And of course I pray. I ask God to give me the strength I need to get back to my pre-surgery weight. I have the willpower and I have set a goal for myself. Be strong my friend. You can do this! Baby steps. One day at a time. God bless you!
