hot flashes

I had a laprascopic supra cervical hysterectomy with the ovaries being removed also.  It has been 11 days with no hot flashes.  When do they usually happen?

Some women don't get hot flashes. If you do start getting them talk to your Dr about hormone therapy. Are you doing alright 11 days post-op? Are you following Drs orders and taking things easy?  Remar

Well I have been doing some stretching easily for my groin area to hopefully prevent the stabbing pains. It's been 4 weeks now and I feel food but have not lifted much just stretching.  The only bothersome thing is my Bm's... maybe 2 good ones but otherwise very little and only pebbles if you what I mean.  I tried stool softners earlier and didn't do much so I have been eating prunes.... At almost a whole container and took 3 days for anything to happen.  Seine told me I wasn't eating enough.... But I would have a large meal and be uncomfortable for days unroll enough pebbles would come out... Is this normal??

I go back to work monday with restrictions.... Will keep you posted.

I have also been getting warm flashes... Mostly at night but not bad.... I think my depression meds are helping that so still not on hormones. Yeah!!!!

Well I guess the stabbing pains brought my Dr. down to earth as she dis put me out 2 more weeks but upon returning to work I have more specific limitations.... Thank God because the PO likes to push you so the restrictions will help!!!
I thought you all were crazy about needing more time but I  on board with you now!!!  Laproscopically hysto is less scars but still major!!!  I will attest to that!!!  Dont't believe the 2 week recovery they tell you!!

Thanks for all the input & I will let you know how it goes!!!

I was worried that would happen to you. That kind of work is just too physical 3 weeks post-op. Your body is still healing. I'm glad to hear your Dr gave you 2 more weeks off work. Really, you should be off 6 weeks but hopefully you'll rest, take things easy and be ready for work at five weeks. Keep us up to date on how your doing and take care. Remar

I ended up having sharp stabbing pains so the Dr. Put me out of work the rest of the week. It's tough because I felt good & was doing more things but work was too physical. I would ask for office work but I know how the PO would push me so I am just going to stay off another 2 weeks.

Oh, that's right. You had told me you worked for the post office. I bet you are sore after all that bending and turning. I do hope the post office can find something else for you to do for awhile. That kind of work is just too much. Your only 3 weeks post-op. The vacation will be good for you as long as you take it easy. Remar

They are helping me out some but it's half way thru the day & I am feeling it.  If I am bad tonite I will call the Dr. to modify my restrictions & hopefully the PO can accomodate me... funny thing is I go on vacation for a week afte this one. Will let you all know how it goes!  BTW it's a good thing I had this done as I had developed more fibroids in a year, had cysts on F tubes & endometriosys!!!!

I took Cymbalta myself but could'nt tolerate it. We're all so different. I'm so glad it's helping you.
If you do start getting hot flashes really bad you can always talk to your Dr about taking hormone replacement.
I'm surprised your Dr is sending you back to work so soon. Really, you should be doing very little for 6 weeks. You had major surgery and it takes time for your body to heal. Is your job physically demanding?   Remar

I am getting warm flashes now..... but not that often.... I think the antidepressant is helping in that area.  I take Cymbalta but I DO NOT recommend it to anyone as the side effects of coming off of it are AWFUL.... plus many people have had very bad side effects while on it.  It helps me so I am staying on it and have been on it for 3 years.... so added benefit to mental sanity is diminished hot flashes!!!  LOL!!!!

I am 18 days post surgery and feeling much better but still sore and easily tired.... Idiot Dr. sent me back to work tomorrow.... will see how it goes!!!
