Hi I am so sorry you are going threw this at such a young age. My advice is to find a surgeon who can use the DaVinci method this is a robotic assisted hysterectomy. you would have a small 1/2 inch scar in belly button and four other 1/2 inch scars on belly where rods are placed to distent abdomen..they bloat the belly up with gas and use a compute guided imagery to move the robotice hand that dr contols with his hands ..they very most precise incisions can be made and it is so remarkable. They can cauterise very small bleeds things that would normally require suturing. It is absolutley state of the art and the best method.

about hormones its a very very difficult decison. if you google or search your bascially going to find information to back up anything you wish to believe..example ther is tons of stuff that says yup it will cause breast cancer also tons of stuff that says..it will preserve bone health and mental emotional stability and stop those hot flashes etc.

Id say if breast cancer runs in your family Id think about it..very honestly if not I personal would go on Bio Identical hormones they are they closest thing possible to what your body makes. Its a challenge you may get lucky and get the right hormones 1st time or it may be trial and error depening upon your needs and simle luck, But you can and will get the right hormonal balance if you dont give up.

There is a herbal product sold in all local stores like CVS etc,,,called BlackCosch it mostly is effective for hot flashes and night sweats if you have more than that example depression, lack of sex drive you will need estrogen or a progestrone combination.

Please go to my home page and read my hint and tips for pre and post op hysterectomy...its kinda a walk through of what to expect.

pm me w any more questions or post oh here I shall be on this site at least once per day.

hugs..and blessings/

I know this all be scary for you. I also had a hysterectomy at a very early age so I do understand what your going through.
Have you asked your Dr about the possibility of removing the cysts from your remaining ovary? If your having no problems with your uterus do they really have to remove it? The uterus does make some hormones.
In my opinion I think all women facing surgery should ask for a second opinion for peace of mind. I did, and the other Dr agreed that I should have the surgery. It did make me feel better that two Drs agreed on the same thing.
It's hard to say about the hormones. Some women do well without them and others don't. You may want to research bio identical hormones.
We're here if you have any questions. Take care. Remar
