Maybe I shouldn`t comment because I have not had a hysterectomy -but I`ll do anyway. I know your fibroid is pretty large but do yourself a favor and do some more research on alternative treatments for fibroids. Even bookstores have a lot of books on that subject - so there is a real need of women to find out whether hysterectomy is really the only choice. After all the uterus contractions can provide pleasure during orgasms - if this whole organ is missing, you might be missing something. If the fibroid is benign, it`s definitely worth it to check out any alternative. Actually, I just see that you know about myomectomies, may be worth the extra costs.
As for the subsiding of desires etc., if it is due to hormones, that would only occur if your ovaries were removed as well but I guess it does happen often that the loss of the uterus dimishes the sexual sensation that you may have been used to. So that`s plain physical.
Good luck with your decisions!
Should the dr. have done a hormone count already? I don't know if that was done or not. Why did you have hormone implants with a hyst? I thought if you kept your ovaries you didn't have to have hormones.
hey3
I had a Hyst 2 years+ ago. I am 32. Had Uterus and Cervix removed, but kept both Ovaries. I had hormone implants with Hyst. Hormone levels were fine, but had to have another one 2 months ago. Hormones VERY low: 174. Gained A LOT of belly-weight, no libido, no energy.
If I were you I would go for Hysterectomy. Just make sure that your hormone levels stay between 600-1000.
I never miss "that time of the month". lol
I forgot to mention, its too early for me to know if I am having any hormonal problems. I had my uterus and cervix removed and we left the ovaries. thank god.
Hi, I had a hysterectomy exactly 2 weeks ago. I am 34. I was having chronic pelvic pain/low back pain/low fevers. My dr. thinks I have Adenomyosis. I did try the Lubron for Endometriosis and It was horrible! I had hot flashes, etc, the hormone replacement DID help. BUT you can only take the Lubron for so long, then you are back to square one. So we ruled everything out, after 10 months of hell. So far I have NO low back pain/low fevers/pelvic pain. I have not gotten the pathology report back as to weather or not I have Adenomyosis. So far so good.
