hi, there I can relate well ~I could change my screen name to all three boys, I also always dreamed of a daughter. My last son a suprise, I thought for sure would be a girl , but he was a he. Even my oldest son had his first child ,,I thought well maybe and yup another boy.
I sure love the heck outta all of them, but there is nothing like a daughter.
Its very common to have post surgical depression, especiallt in women who have a hysterectomy. Its a traumatic surgery, some women feel they loose their womanhood, not so ! Sherie is right about the hormones.Did they take your ovaries? If yes your in a surgical menopause makes the hormones very suddenly way outta balance.
If thats the case Id reccomend speaking with your Dr about bio-identical hormone replacement. Its really the best type of hormones, read up a bit on them!
Im concerned for you about the depression. I would urge you to speak with your gyno or your family physician, perhaps they can give you some short term medication to help with this, there is alot of different types, so please write down all your symptoms, ie) are you eating too much ,too little same with sleep and any other symptom.
Try to keep a bit of a routine..be kind to yourself , you've been though a lot, its important for depression to keep regular sleep habits, maintain hygine, eat three nutrious meals, nutrion is important for depression. Exercise is too but its too soon post op for you to do that.
I hope this helped, please do seek help for the depression, let me know if ovaries had been removed or not makes a big difference in me trying to help you.
If youd like to write me a pm, please feel welcomed !
Cherie
I am so sorry to hear about your situation all5boys, I have no doubt that it is hard for you to accept the thought of never having a girl baby. I'm sure people tell you to be happy you have 5 health boys but no one understands how you feel on the inside like you. It is possible that you are experiencing post-partum hormone related depression, has your physician checked your hormone levels? I'm going to contact administration and have them send your post over to the Hysterectomy Forum, I believe you will get a lot of beneficial advice there, Cherie is a wonderful CL, compassionate and knowledgeable, she will be able to guide you well. In the meantime until the post get transferred, I suggest you go to the Hysterectomy Forum and look around a bit at the posts already there, you may find info that pertains to your situation. (This is a forum for pelvic organ prolapse and although sometimes women have a hysterectomy as a result of uterine prolapse, in general the Hysterectomy Forum will have more full-bodied info in regards to this situation.)
Good luck, hang on for a bit until we get the transfer in place, you'll get some suggestions soon!
