its been over 15 years since my hysterectomy is a pap smear still needed/

It is recommended, somethimes there are still some cervical cells post op, and rare but it happens there is vaginal cancer that can be detected by pap smear, so it is a test gynecologists recomend women get yearly or more for life. It is a test most of us would like to avoid but like many tests the value of what it provides far exceeds a few moments of being a bit embarassed or uncomfortable,,,,Best wishes and thanks foir the excellent question..Cherie
