thanks for responding back to me quietgirl i didnt have any burning nor did i have any blood in urine and i didnt have to pee alot i had no symptons that cause me any pain besides the fibriods before surgery i didnt have a uti before surgery i was told that after my first surgery all tests that was done before surgery all came bac negative i had the same idea about something being contaminated because the staph was in my urine my first thought was my dr. inserted a contaminated cather in me i feel that she knew about the staph and kept quiet im so confused
Hmm...It's hard to tell, then. It sounds possible something could have been contaminated during surgery and caused an infection (possible cause of the fever, which is not a normal part of the recovery process of any surgery I'm aware of and I've had several including one involving my reproductive system). At the same time, you could have simply caught something while at the hospital. In either case, you are lucky to be alive if you did indeed get a staph infection while in the hospital. So many of those tend to be antibiotic resistant (like MRSA).
Prior to your surgery, did you have burning while urinating or blood in your urine as well as frequent urination? (These are symptoms of a UTI.) If you did, you caught it beforehand. If you didn't, you were quite possibly infected while in the hospital. It's just a matter of when you were infected.
i was also told that it was a pelvic abcess that had me shortness of breath
im sorry quiet girl new at this but yes i had my first surgery dec of 2011 for a partical hysterectomy i had fibroid tumors i was hosiptalized for 5 days the whole time i was running a fever well the dr told me i had a uti ok jan 4th 2012 i was released from hosiptal i wasnt home 24 and had to call ambulance when i arrived at the hospital i was told that i had to go into surgery again to have what female part i had left also had to be removed or the outcome wouldnt be good i left the hospital with a wound vac that i had to carry with me everywhere i went for a whole month while hosiptalized i had ng tube two drain plugs connected to me on both sides cather you name it i had it about three months ago i found out i had staph in my urine that my dr. didnt mention to tell please help me understand!
Staph is commonly found on skin as it is a bacteria that can grow in high salt concentrations. Staph is an opportunistic pathogen, meaning it will take any chance it gets to infect. If you wipe from back to front rather than front to back, you are drawing any bacteria in that area toward your urethra where it is trapped and can begin to form colonies and make it can theoretically make its way up your urethra to your bladder, which is a really short distance in a female body, over time if you don't clean well. (I can't recall if it's flagellated or not, which lends to the possibility of build-up and other things moving the colonies for you.)
I'm confused why this is in the hysterectomy section, however? Did you develop a staph infection following a surgery? Knowing exactly what was infected and what sort of surgery/when had would also help me figure out if it's a nosocomial infection and could change how it possibly happened.
