vaginal bleeding

by aclark45, Nov 07, 2009 09:32AM
Yesterday I started light vaginal bleeding and had a complete hysterectomy 26 years ago due to a severe  pelvic infection from the Dalkon shield.  What could cause this and what should I do?

Hi , hope to offer some help, may I ask what you were doing yesterday? had you for example been doing extra heavy work something you would not normally do? was this bleeding following intimacy?

if it was either of the two above Id advise to wathc observe see if the bleeding changes or stops.
If you were not over exerting self, Id say you should probably play it safe and make an appointment to go see your gyn.
It most likely is due to thinning of vaginal tissues which happens normally as we age. I looked at your home page did not see your age but am guessing if you had hysterectomy 26 years ago you must be in late 50s,atleast, so my hunch is you may be needing some estrogen. Please speak with your doctor and see what they say It honestly doesnt sound like its an urgent situation,.

one other thing that matters is the color of the blood that tells alot light pink is very fresh new blood, dark brown is old blood and of more concern sometimes a clue that there may be an infection.

Best to phone dr, see what he says. Many women dont go for annual checkups after a hysterectomy. They really should at the very least go every other year. if ovaries are still there they should go every year.
feel better!
