this site particularly the hysterectomy forum helped me so very much prior to my surgery and I know it has helped countless women..some drs are quite skilled surgeons and lack any bedside manner, Id prefere that to the oppisite LOL,,,anyways , all questions are welcomed here, and if we dont know something I will read up till I find an answer or will find someone to point you in the right direction...if there is anything else at all or if you should prefere to talk in private please pm me....C
I am with you on this, Cherie and so glad you mentioned it... if it is true that not much was explained when the doctor was advising removal of these organs...well, that is just not right. I am glad that women feel they can come here for more answers and sometimes explanations are needed since during the visits with doctors it is difficult to absorb all of the information, or it is rushed by us. We need to keep remembering that we have to be our own advocates out there... not always easy, I know.
the reprecussions of this are no more menstrual periods, no female hormones and infertility. the "good" side is what ever disease you had should be cured or improved,,,
an abdominal hysterectomy is the surgical removal of the uterus with or sometimes with out the cervix. a BSO bilatreral ( meaning both side) salpingo ( meaning tubes) and ooperectomy( meaning surgical removal of ovaries). So in conclusion you have had you uterus , tubes and ovvaries removed,,,I dont understand the "leave the uterus part" the removal of the uterus is a hysterectomy..
there is a complete seperate operation a BSO as discussed above where just the tubes and ovaries are removed,,,but you say you had an abdominal hysterectomy and bilateral salpingo ooperectomy,,,,you had organs removed from your body and no one explained to you what they where? I am very sorry to hear that,,,how are you feeling now.?
