New vaccine required for sixth graders in New York State

STATEWIDE -- A combination vaccine for tetanus, diphtheria, and whopping cough is now required for all students entering sixth grade in New York State. The t-dap vaccine requirement is a result of a whopping cough outbreak last year.

If your sixth grader has not received the vaccine, state health officials recommend you schedule an appointment as soon as possible.
