Should I get a Tetanus shot?

Today I stepped on the button on my clothes with bare foot. The button is made of metal, and I don't know if it is rusted or not. I felt painful and looked at my foot in less than half minute. There is only a black small dot on my foot. It looks like a healed cut. There are not other bleeding or cuts on my foot. My question is that can the cut heal in such  short time, like less than half a minute? Should I get a Tetanus shot? Thank you!

Hi!
Since the wound has healed, there is no risk of tetanus. Also, this late any shot will not protect you against this injury. If you had complete tetanus immunization profile with last dose administered between 13-18 years of age as part of DPT/polio cover program then you do not need any tetanus shots. You are covered under this immunization and need to take a shot only in high risk cases. If you did not receive any immunization after 5 years of age, So, I would suggest you get a shot for life long immunity. Do discuss this with your doctor as well. Take care!

The medical advice given should not be considered a substitute for medical care provided by a doctor who can examine you. Thank you! Since I got a TD vaccine in 2001, I think I'm pretty relieved now. And Could you tell me what is a high risk circumstance for Tetanus?
