Tetanus Scare

Hi i was scratched (not punctured) by a nail which was sticking out on the wall because it was not properly done, which caused a little cut/scratch on my palm... i'm thinking if i should go to a hospital but i'm hesitating because i'm embarassed because it's only a tiny scratch and they might think i'm overly paranoid because of it (which i am).. i washed it with soap and water then alcohol...i'm 22 years old and i forgot when was the last time i had a Tetanus vaccine shot...should i go to the hospital? by the way the wound only bled a little.. since it's only a scratch and i don't think it's deep...

no I'm not a Doctor. you see the border between a reasonable fear and psychosis is when you begin with the fear of death and illness in the first place and then make up the conditions for the fear to be justified.

there is absolutely no reason to believe there was Tetanus on that nail. you can ask any expert he will tell you the same thing over and over but if the problem is psychological you will always elaborate a different "solution" by which you have put your life at risk.

you'll have tetanus in your closet, rabies in your dog, HIV from whatever human contact you'll have, hepatitis from the public toilet, every sign your body will give will be a sign of cancer, there'll be heavy metals in the food you buy, bacteria in the water.

you'll be so oppressed you won't be able to move. sometimes these fears are related with a latent suicidal will, depression and bipolar disorder.

you got that right... i think i have hypochondriasis... but these things that i fear were because of the things that happened not because i imagined them.. i've read that nails don't have to be on the soil because it can harbor  C.Tetani which causes tetanus... i hope you don't mind me asking sir.. are you a doctor?

I've checked your previous posts, you were worried about HIV exposure after having protected sex. then you were worried about skin cancer from a mole you had for ages.

now you're worried about Tetanus from scratching your hand on a nail.

first of all Tetanus to be on rusty nails is practically a myth. Tetanus lives in soil, externally. now because you need a cut to get tetanus, that would be from a pointed object outside in soil.

therefore no you don't have to worry about Tetanus.

you are sort of Hypocondrial I don't know you should talk about it with a Psychiatrist.

sometimes this fears originate from an actual underlying physical condition that induce the person to think he's got that disease or another. sometimes it's just psychological. thinking that you should die soon for a reason or another.

you will die of something some day, but likely not from Tetanus.
