Has anyone received the chicken pox vaccine?  In preparing for pregnancy I took the titer test and am not immune so I was told to get it (I didn't have chicken pox as a kid and received one shot as a teen.)  My concern is that they tell you not to get pregnant for 1-3 months.  While we aren't trying to get pregnant now, there's always the chance it could happen.  I just wanted to see if anyone has had it or has gotten pregnant after getting it.  Thanks!

Yes, ideally you should get pregnant after 3 months of taking the vaccine. However, some do allow a woman to carry on with her plans of trying for pregnancy after one month of shot. In any case, if you become pregnant within three months of taking the shots, then inform your gynecologist and your radiologist at each scan. Chicken pox vaccine can cause same birth defects in baby as would have happened if the mother had contacted chicken pox during pregnancy.
However, on a positive note the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reports that they have not received any information of a case with birth defects in baby in women who became pregnant within three months. Do discuss this with your doctor. Take care!
