strep throat immunization

My two girls have had strep throat 6+ times in 6months. We are expecting a tonsilectomy soon and will see an MD about it on thursday. Before we do, I heard that there was an easier way to get rid of strep throat without surgery.
Have you heard of the strep throat immunization? can you give me a website and info on this? is it in America yet?
