Proper location for thread topics

Hello Medhelp Moderators...

I think it would be a good time for some guidance from all of you, either in the form of a formal post or as an update to the current Medhelp Guidelines.

Lately, I've noticed more and more threads that are being posted in the Substance Abuse Forum, that in my opinion should be in the Social Forum.  If someone is posting about their thoughts and feelings about addiction, their drug of choice, what little things they are doing differently on a daily basis to conquer their demons - these should be in the social forum (in my opinion).

The posts where individuals are actively seeking help, or are having difficulties with their withdrawal, should remain in the Substance Abuse forum.  The shout outs at 30, 60, and 90 days etc., for people with clean time under their belt could go either way.   The SA forum seems to be getting overcrowded with posts that don't belong there, and as a result, some posts are being overlooked.  There are also alot of inbtween thread topics that could go either way.

If the forum recognizes and visits the Social Forum as often as they do the SA Forum,  people will be more readily post there.

I'm asking that you as the Moderators set better guidelines as to what posts go where.  After all, you are the ones that ultimately make this choice when you move one thread to another forum.

These are just my thoughts, although I know other people have expressed concern over when and where a thread should be moved, if at all.

Thank you,

Hi there -

What people are doing to conquer their demons, their thoughts and feelings (to an extent), etc., are all part of addiction - some may be about preventing relapse, how to deal with triggers, the emotional parts of withdrawal and early recovery, etc.

If you feel a post is miscategorized, you can report it and we'll check it out.  We can't promise we will move it, but we will read it and evaluate it's location.

For more info on the forum, you can read the forum description under "About this forum" and "Important Announcement" just under the big picture at the top of the community.

There just doesn't seem to be any consistency with regard to what stays in the SA forum and what is moved.  There is a thread right now in the SA forum that deals solely with whether you've told your loved ones about your addiction - A similar post was moved to the social forum.  I'm not going to "report" these as miscatagorized - since it's no longer clear to me.

It's not a major issue based on your response, so I'm letting it go.
