my father 59yrs old has IBS right from wen he was too young. about a month ago he had constipation for almost 5 days i being a medical student gave him lactulose suspension imediatly about 25 ml..after 2-3 hrs his bowels got open but they were watery in consistensy....next day he took another 35ml lactulose and again had 2 loose stools..and Still almost 25 days have passed his problem of loose stools in the morning persists ...he only had his bowels open once a day..He is also having fever and mild productive cough since the start of this complaint...we have been to so many drs for this problem ...dr.gave him leflox 500mg OD 3 days backk..but still fever and cough has not been vanished..
we have done CBC...wbc counts were 9000
hb was 14.4
urine R/E was normal tooo..
typhoid was neg. too but this tst was done after the start of leflox
MP was negayive to0
He has been diagnosed as having OA recently
As mentioned from the other post, Irritable bowel syndrome may present with abdominal pain or discomfort, along with diarrhea, constipation, or both. If the fever and cough persist, and the medication did not work, additional diagnostic tests may need to be done including imaging studies of the chest to rule out pulmonary conditions also.
