Gonorrhea

I was recently diagnosed with having the gonorrhea infection.  Neither myself nor my sexual partner are experiencing any of the symptoms of this infection.

I've been with this same partner only since the last 9 months.  About 3 months ago, I discovered that he had sex with another woman (he claims to have used a condom for the vaginal intercourse, that he did perform oral sex on her, and that she performed oral sex on him without using a condom).

Prior to my sexual relationship with him, it had been a little over 3 years since my last sexual relationship.

My questions are:  "Given that neither of us have no symptoms of the gonorrhea infection:

(i)  Is it possible that I was infected with gonorrhea in my previous relationship,  and that I have been asymptomatic since 3 1/2 years?

(ii)  What are the chances of my results being a "false positive"?

Your answers would be greatly appreciated.

How did you know you had this infection? Was it during your annual exam then, if you didn't have any symptoms? Im thinking of two things here: Either you got it from your current partner who got it from his previous relationships or you got it from your previous partner later on during the relationship. It would be weird not having symptoms for 3-1/2 years.

I want to correct a typo on my post by saying that "he DID NOT perform oral sex on her"...
