I have a cut (ripped skin ) between my but cheeks (buttocks)

the area between my butt cheeks (little under the tailbone)  was so itchy 2 weeks a go and evertyime i went to sleep i had a severe urge to scratch it  and with  regular scratching the area has  become sore  , it stings  and hurt  when i try to scartch it and for the last three days  i developed a cut in there once i tried to wipe it i got little blood on toilet paper but not anymore , what could be the reason of this i'm freaking out?

- and also i'd like to find some answers  to these questions

-after scratching the skin multiple times and hard is it possible for the skin to spilt or rip and become like a cut ?

- i set usually more than 6 hours in front of the computer could this be related ?

Additional details .

I'm a female , 18 years , overweight

Possibly sitting too much at the computer and perspiring are not good for bacteria and fungi like wet areas. I'd try the topical antibiotic ointment. Alcohol doesn't kill bacteria it is an antiseptic. It does kill viruses. It drys out the area but it is best to use an antibacterial ointment. Also, the alcohol in wipes and dispensers is irritating to the skin if you use it too much. It will itch less and should clear up in a few days. Is it crusty looking or blisters? I think just try to give your self breaks at the computer and also a pillow will help to sit on unless you are sitting on a soft chair because a hard chair can cause friction. Too much sitting is hard on the back and on the skin so it is possible that is the cause of the skin breaking. But I think scratching it probably caused it and also the moisture. After you clear the infection up use baby powder to keep the area dry. Try not to get it in the genital area as that is bad for you just on the backside. Hope this helps. If it gets worse go see a doctor. At this point I think the antibiotic ointment will help.

hello, i too have the same problem.its like a cut just above and below the tail bone dent.( i hope you got that area correctly). what is it called?what measures can ui take  like medicine? pls
Is yours painful, red , swollen or hot? If so it could be infected and you might want to see a doctor. If not and you are just trying to heal it try some triple antibiotic ointment (if you are not allergic to it) and apply it to the area and cover with a band aid (depending on the size). If you get it wet in the shower, remove the bandaid and reapply the ointment. Wash your hands before and after.

Hi Ghizo,
I'm so glad to hear the wound healed without further complications. I was a bit worried to try to heal this on our own. I'm glad you wrote back. Now try to keep it dry and hopefully it will be ok.
take care,

Well it sounds like your are getting better not worse. I'll be glad to hear when it is a closed wound and no pain. Then you will be on the road to recovery without worrying so much about infection. When there is open skin it is always worse. Yes it probably will take at least a week for the skin to heal. Just keep an eye on the pain and whether it is getting worse or not. Things can change rapidly if you get something else in it. That is why you need the ointment and also keep it clean and covered but not wet. Hard to do in that area. Any questions let me know.

i think it's getting better although the cut it's still there but when i touch it there's less pain than before i'd just give time to heal since i've heard that cuts takes more than 2 weeks sometimes to heal do you agree? and thank you very much

p.s. yes sitting along time especially if you feel you are sitting on the tailbone area may aggravate it. Maybe you can find a donut pillow or any kind of flat pillow that would help lessen the friction. Sure the skin can break if there is enough friction or abrasion. The skin near the tailbone is kind of thin too In any case if you scratch with your fingernails you can open the skin without trying. I do think this is a bacterial infection rather than fungal by your description. of itchy and sore. I just want to know what it looks like. In any case it is in an area that can get badly infected. So if you see any red streaks go to the ER. I am worried about it being open still.

Hi and sorry you are going through this. I worry that you have an infection. Do you have a fever? If you have a fever of 100 or more go in right away to your doctor. Try not to scratch any more or touch the area. What does it look like are they crusty red bumps? It could be a bacteria such as Staph or a fungus. Both can itch and scratching spreads the infection. Since it is open you should see the doctor. Unless it closed up? If you don't have a fever and it is crusty put Neosporin or triple antibiotic ointment on it and cover it with a nonstick patch (if you can get to it) and leave it alone and repeat about twice a day. See if it starts to get better in 2 days. If it doesn't you will have to see a doctor. When you wash the area don't scrub, gently wash with your hand and soap and then rinse and pat dry. Then wash all the towels, washrags underwear and anything that came in contact with it. Of course your hands. You can use disinfectant wipes on the faucet, handles and countertops, door knobs etc. If it is a staph it is easily spread around. If it is a fungus the antibiotic won't work only anti-fungal cream like Lamisil would work but I wouldn't use that until you see a doctor. Because of the area and because it was open you may want to see a doctor unless it has closed up and isn't swollen. since it hurts it would be best to see a doctor it is more likely a bacterial infection. It is up to you to decide. But anytime something hurts , and is red and infected it is best to see a doctor. The antibiotic ointment might work but you might need pills too. I'm just giving you options. If you have a fever 100 or more go in right away.
