Infectious Colitis...contagious
Hi, just a quick question.

My mom was dx'd with infectious colitis today, and put on Levaquin. Apparently it will take 4 days to find out exactly what the bug is.

I am her primary caretaker. Am I at risk of becoming infected? Is it typically contagious?

She was pretty severely constipated it turns out, and then it turned into a lot of loose stools with bright red blood in them. Her H & H levels were/are fine. DX was made with a CT scan, and ABX started today.

Is the infection a by product of being impacted or something that was maybe transmitted thru the enviroment?

Thanks!
