Lymph Nodes Question

I'm pretty sure I had mono but, I need to be sure. For about a few months, I had a sore throat and the lymph nodes only on my neck were swollen. Now, my sore throat has completely gone away and my lymph nodes have shrunk back to normal. I just want to make sure it wasn't hiv. With that, I heard all of your lymph nodes are swollen and don't go away. Mine have gone away. Am I fine?

Actually,
There is a monospot test they can do and also I think the doctor meant that if your IgM is positive then it is current and the IgG is positive it is past infection. You could have just had a strep infection with swollen lymph nodes. If you haven't had the mono spot test plus the antibody tests then you don't know for sure if you had recent mono. If you just have IgG antibodies most people have these as adults. So if you wait too long to get tested you may not catch the IgM which only positive for about a month after infection. The mono spot may be too late since your symptoms have gone away. It takes about 2-3 months to not be contagious. But, most people are immune anyway. I wouldn't kiss a baby on the lips or a child. But otherwise you should be fine.

Hi!
Yes, if your lymph nodes have gone back to normal, you are in all probability not having a current infection. If you want to know whether you have mono or not, you could go for the immunoglobulin testing for mono. If IgG levels are high, it means you have a current infection. If IgM levels are detected then you have past infection. Please consult your PCP.
Take care!
