My encounter in the bathroom, is it a possible infection?
Today I was going to wash my hand at the sink of the bathroom of my university i'm studying in.
When I pulled the tap up, strong flow of water rushed out from the tap which caused the water to hit the sink hit everywhere. When I was washing my hand and finished, some water from the sink (strong flowing tap water that hit the body of the sink) hit me on my lip. I eventually got water from the sink, just like a sprinkle, hit my lip.
Being doubtful that I am, first thing that came in my mind is infection. Is there any way that this could be a possible infection? Is there anyway that i could get any infectious diseases like herpes, or other infectious disease from what happened? Please help, I'm getting so frustrated here from what happened. I'm scared that i may have caught herpes if some guy had some herpes on his hand then used the sink, before i did. Is it possible? And do you think that i may have been in risk of infection? or am i just being scared for nothing. PLease help. thanks
What do you mean mr. DeadLast? I didn't actually get your comment.
So you mean that herpes is ruled out? I can't get herpes from my encounter at the bathroom? So I shouldn't be scared because there's no possible herpes infection on me from what happened at the bathroom? What infections can I get?
By the way sir, right after the sprinkle of water hit my lower lip, I went to the school fountain to get it washed of with water, then when water from the fountain washed my lips, I drank some water. Is it possible that I may have gotten herpes? And do you think I may have been at risk for herpes? I really can't get my feelings to rest sir. I'm scared and worried that if i may have had contracted it, my world's going to be broken because I have a girlfriend and we love each other so much, I don't want to pass it on to her. Right now I'm even having doubts to kiss her or even share utensils, food, and drinks with her.. All because of i'm scared that i don't want to pass it on to her. Please help me sir. Do you think i may have been at risk or do you think i should just shrug it off because I have nothing to worry about, or i'm not at risk. Please help answer. thank you.... I'm really feeling down and feeling so very depressed.
I know for a fact you did not get herpes from this ecounter. The only thing you can catch from that is a cold. I also assume your talking about Genital herpes correct? The virus is very fragile, it will fall apart soon after leaving the body. There is zero possiblity.
I'm thinking about herpetic whitlow, if herpes on the hands infected the sink, and the water splashed on my mouth, i may contract oral hsv-1 from that case. But sir DeadLast, do you think by that encounter, i may have been at risk or may have gotten oral herpes?
I'm just very worried that if the last person who used the sink had herpes on his hands, and I'm the next person who used the sink. (the bathroom was empty, but i saw that the sink was used due to the fact that is has water all over it). And he washed his hands with water, the herpes virus on his hand would be in the sink right?
Then I washed my hands and after i'm finished washing my hands, the tap was still on, then a splash of water that hit the sink coming from the tap hit me on my lower lip.
Then I proceeded to wash my lip with water from our school fountain, then drink water from the fountain after that.
I'm scared and getting paranoid that I may have caught herpes? Because of the splash of water that hit my lower lip, then washed with water, then proceeded to drink.
Do you think i may have caught it or may have been at risk?
Do you think that, that encounter will lead to me having oral herpes due to the splash of water hit my lip and have a drink after washing it other wise for about 2 seconds?
Or I do not have nothing to worry about?.
Thank you for taking the time to answer my question DeadLast. It gives me a bit relief and peace of mind. But it will bring my much peace and i would appreciate it if you'd answer me again this time. Thank you
Calm down man. I can bet you already have herpes (cold sores) before this instance. 90 percent of the population is infected. Althought it is mostly by passing drinks and kissing etc. Its nothing to worry about.
Sir, please don't joke like that. Are you serious? I'm just a kid and i'm very scared and filled with anxiety... Do you really think that i may have been infected? I never kissed and never came in contact with someone who has herpes.. I'm just scared about the splash of water from the sink... I'm still a virgin and never had any sexual contact whatsoever. I'm just asking that do you think that i may have been infected by that encounter IF it was possible that some guy who used the sink has herpes on his hand.. before me using it. Please sir, don't be harsh or sarcastic.. I'm feeling very weary and down.
By the way mr.deadlast, I have asked this question to others also.. and they said:
"there is absolutely no way you can get herpes this way. None. Zero.
you are completely over the tp in worrying about STDS"
"If you got a case of full-blown herpes from such a trivial incident you would be the most unluckiest guy in the world...however,you'd be able to sue the establishment who owned that public restroom, and to avoid being considered "that place that gives people mouth herpes with their nasty bathrooms", they'd give you 9 million dollars to compensate....
you're FINE. Read some of the other herpes questions on here, it will put your nervous head to rest."
"HERPES IS ONLY SPREAD FROM SKIN TO SKIN CONTACT/FRICTION"
i say you have nothing to be that scared about. dont take this in an offensive way-- but you sound alittle extreme over the issue. please dont live your life questioning things like this-- i only say for your own good, because thinking about things this way sounds like it would sitr up alot of anxiety.. but anyways, its honestly not that likely that you contracted something over your sink incident. there are alot of stds and diseases where theres a slight risk you could contract them over a small incident such as-- but its NOT likely-- and its definitely not something to stress over in your everyday life. if youre worried about contracting herpes in particular-- or any virus-- my advice is keep your immunity up and make sure to get your daily vitamins and nutrients from the food you eat. herpes is a virus-- and if your body has sufficient immunity, it could fight off viruses without you even knowing"
I still can't really get myself to rest since you said that you bet i had it now before that instance. I'm sorry if i'm pissing you off.. this is the last question that i'll ask of you. I'm 16, i'm from the philippines, and i'm sorry if i may have been getting onto your nerves..
I promise you, this is the last time.. please just be serious and not sarcastic.. I'm asking you from medhelp because for me, this is the most reliable of all..
There are two kinds of herpes.
I know for a fact you did not catch HSV-2, better known as genital herpes. As the guy mentioned it would be really rare to get it from this event, you have a better chance of winning the lottery.
HSV-1 Which is cold sores etc, is spread very easily. I doupt you got it from a water fountain. THIS IS NOT AN STD. 4 out 5 people carry this virus. Your Immune system will send into remession if you have an healhty immune system. Keep in mind its a very fragile virus, so it from sharing drinks. Like right after the other. You came to a sink, there is .000001 chance you caught it.
whew.. thank you sir, now i have been calm about the sink incident,
but about the fountain sir, many people at our university drink form that fountain,
and I have been drinking from it since july, at the start of school, until now, no symptoms develop, and no blisters or open sores appear on my mouth.
So should I be worried still about an HSV-1infection from the sink, or are you still doubting that i contracted it from the fountain? By the way, I never let myself hit the metal part where the water comes from the fountain. It's disgusting and unhygienic. So sir, first of all, i would like to thank you, now i am calm that you think and said that it is very unlikely for me to get it from the sink.. But sir, last question thought, do you still doubt that i may have gotten HSV-1 from the fountain last monday? Do you think that i have contracted it?
This is my last question. Thank you, i'm really glad that now i'm calm.
I appreciate all the help that you've given me.
No, its a very fragile virus. I doupt it was there. Think about it you didnt touch the metal so if someone did have herpes and drank it would have gone down the drain. If you touched the metal it would be a little different but you didnt so your fine, you would not catch herpes =D
Sir, another one though.
I'm a frequent lip biter when i'm having dry lips, i bite it and take it away, i had
that last evening and bit my lips to take off the dry skin.. there were red patches after it, it was from the skin that peeled off. The next day, which is today here in the philippines, i was walking, going home from school.. when i was walking, there were 4 people, coming right in front of me, maybe like just a foot or 2 feet away.. when i saw them, i immediately felt something hit my upper lip, i'm not sure if it was saliva or something but i felt something on my upper lip. Immediately, i rubbed my lip with my uniform.
I'm very worried because where i felt it, it was on the red patch where the skin was peeled off. I'm not sure if it was saliva or something, but i felt something hit, like immediately feeling something on your lip at random when i saw them.
What do you think sir deadlast?
By the way,
THANK YOU VERY MUCH SIR! YOU DON'T KNOW HOW MUCH THAT HELPED!
I really appreciate all the help you have given me.
I really appreciate the time and the help big time. May God bless you. :)
You are a very great and helpful person.
Today, there was slight itching near my armpit, around the front of my shoulders.
I looked at it and i saw a blister. It isn't red. No red skin around it, and it doesn't hurt.
But, its kinda itchy. Yesterday there wasn't any blister. By the way, there's only one blister, and there's a black mark in the middle of it. Like there's a little black mark inside of it in the middle. Could it might be it?
